Mold Removal is often times best left to the professionals. Without conducting
a proper Mold Inspection and Mold Testing prior to the start of a Mold Remediation project will often times spell disaster. Mold Abatement can be complicated, therefore it is vital to know the extent of the damage and to establish proper containment before beginning the Mold Cleanup Process.

 

Safety & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment, also known as (PPE) are safety items designed to prevent exposure to the potential hazards of mold remediation.

Examples of (PPE) include goggles, gloves, respirators and those white protective suits you may have seen. If they are not worn, workers run the risk of mold exposure. These are items that are necessary to protect those individuals performing mold removal work

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

In addition to wearing proper (PPE) during a mold remediation project, safe work practices must also be followed. These include:

  1. No eating drinking or smoking in any contaminated work areas.
  2. PPE should be inspected prior to use on a job site. If damaged it should be repaired or replaced before use.
  3. Latex or Nitrile gloves should be worn while working inside containment areas. Especially while handling contaminated materials.
  4. Remove PPE and properly wash hands as needed throughout the mold remediation process.
  5. Address job site cuts, abrasions and injuries promptly. They should always be reported to a supervisor immediately.
  6. Dispose of contaminated PPE with other contaminated materials at the end of the day. Most PPE should not be reused. Items such as goggles and respirators can be reused once thoroughly decontaminated.
  7. For their own safety, homeowners and office employees are prohibited from entering the work site.
