Flood damage is the most common cause of mold damage to homes. Buildings that have been heavily damaged by flood waters should be properly addressed within the first 24-48 hours after the damage and remediated by experienced professionals. It is critical that all porous building materials that sustain water damage be removed and disposed of within the above time frame to avoid mold to begin forming.
